The Doctoral Program in Animal Science at Unpad is a research-based educational program, with its primary output being articles published in reputable international journals. The cumulative study load for the Doctoral program comprises a minimum of 42 credit hours, consisting of: Doctoral Qualification Competencies (minimum 12 credit hours), Research Proposal Seminar (5 credit hours), Research Results Seminar (5 credit hours), Dissertation Review (6 credit hours), Publication of Scientific Articles in Reputable International Journals (9 credit hours), and Doctoral Promotion Defense (5 credit hours). The study duration is designed to be completed within a timeframe of 4 to 14 semesters.

The Doctoral Program in Animal Science at Unpad has obtained ASIIN international accreditation and a national "A" accreditation from BAN-PT. Collaborative programs have been developed with domestic and international institutions, including: BRIN, Wageningen University, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, Scotland’s Rural College UK, and UVAS Pakistan.

The Doctoral Program in Animal Science at Unpad is designed to produce graduates with high competencies in the field of animal science. Graduates are expected to master the scientific philosophy and be capable of advancing the latest knowledge and technology in the field of animal science through environmentally friendly and competitive research using a multidisciplinary approach. They are also expected to be able to develop the latest concepts in science and technology to solve problems within the domain of animal science through research employing multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches.
