The Master's Program in Biology offers education in the field of biological resource and environmental management, with three specializations:
- Applied Microbiology;
- Integrated Ecology; and
- Biosciences and Biomolecular Sciences.
The curriculum is designed through coursework and research in laboratories or field settings, enabling students to master the theory and applications of biological sciences through an inter- or multidisciplinary approach.
The coursework includes general skills (Scientific Communication; Quantitative and Qualitative Biology) and the mandatory courses Biodiversity and Climate Change, which are defining features of the program in relation to global issues concerning biodiversity and the environment (Biodiversity, Ecosystem Services, and Climate Change). Elective courses include Biorestoration, Genetic Engineering, Molecular Biology, In Vitro Culture Technology for REEPs and Potential Organisms, Pollution Ecology, Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, Bioremediation, Bioprospection, Ethnobiology, Conservation Biology, and Animal Cell Culture Technology. Graduate competencies encompass roles as academics, researchers, environmental consultants, and biology-based entrepreneurs.
Graduates possess analytical skills and independence in addressing global issues, particularly in the fields of Biodiversity and Climate Change, Ecosystem Services, Biological Resource Management, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), complemented by knowledge of biotechnology and bioinformatics.
