The Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Therapy Study Program at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) offers specialist (Sp-1) and subspecialist (Sp-2) physician education focused on anesthesiology and intensive care. The program aims to produce graduates competent in providing anesthesia services, intensive care, pain management, and advanced life support in accordance with standard operating procedures, medical ethics, and law.
This study program aspires to become a leading institution in the education of specialist physicians in anesthesiology and intensive care, excelling in the field of intensive care science and possessing global competitiveness. The achievements and outcomes of the Unpad Faculty of Medicine's Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Therapy Study Program encompass three main areas: education, research, and community service. The program has several learning objectives that are conducted in an educative and authentic manner, assessed objectively, are accountable, and integrated. These include a timely graduation rate of >70%. The scope of activities within the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Therapy at the Unpad Faculty of Medicine/Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital, Bandung, is organized into eight divisions: the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Division, Neuroanesthesia Division, Pediatric Anesthesia Division, Pain Management Division, Intensive Care Therapy Division, Regional Anesthesia Division, Obstetric Anesthesia Division, and Emergency and Trauma Anesthesia Division.
Graduates of the Unpad Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Therapy Specialist Program possess the competence to provide anesthesia care for various surgical procedures and intensive care for critically ill patients. They are skilled in planning and administering both general and regional anesthesia, as well as in carefully monitoring patients during and after medical procedures. These graduates are also capable of managing patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), handling medical emergencies, and performing therapeutic interventions to support vital organ function. With a profound understanding of anesthetic pharmacology and techniques, they are prepared to contribute in operating rooms, ICUs, and research in the fields of anesthesiology and critical care.
