The Orthopedics and Traumatology study program educates physicians to become competent specialists in Orthopedics and Traumatology, skilled in managing orthopedic cases such as bone injuries, ligament injuries, muscle injuries, congenital abnormalities, arthritis, bone and joint deformities, tumors, spinal problems, infections, and other conditions. Furthermore, students are trained to conduct research grounded in problem identification, produce scientific papers, and publish their work. The Orthopedics and Traumatology study program at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Padjadjaran, is one of the oldest orthopedics and traumatology programs in Indonesia, with a comprehensive faculty qualification structure referencing in-depth subspecialties within the field. Specialist physician trainees in this program come from diverse backgrounds across all regions of Indonesia and, upon graduation, return to their respective areas to strengthen the national healthcare system. Graduates of the Specialist 1 Program in Orthopedics and Traumatology at Unpad possess competencies in diagnosing, managing, and performing surgical procedures for musculoskeletal disorders, including traumatic injuries and orthopedic abnormalities. They are proficient in handling fractures, dislocations, bone deformities, as well as joint and other soft tissue disorders. These graduates are also capable of designing postoperative rehabilitation plans, providing conservative therapies, and performing orthopedic surgical procedures, both open and minimally invasive. With their technical skills and in-depth medical knowledge, they are prepared to contribute in hospitals, orthopedic clinics, and medical research to enhance patient quality of life.
