Anatomical Pathology

Offering a competency-based Anatomic Pathology Specialist Physician education grounded in professional ethics, mental and spiritual development, and research capabilities in the field of Anatomic Pathology, particularly Molecular Pathology. The Specialist Physician Education Program is a postgraduate medical program that represents an advanced phase of the general physician education program. Specialist Physician Education at the Faculty of Medicine, Padjadjaran University has been conducted since 1980, based on Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 076/II/1980. The Specialist Physician Education Coordination Team I (TKP PPDS-I) was established on December 1, 1980, based on the Decree of the Rector of Padjadjaran University Number: 137/Kep./UNPAD/1980. Academically, the Anatomic Pathology Specialist Program utilizes the most current and relevant curriculum aligned with advancements in anatomic pathology sciences, delivered by experienced and expert faculty members, with a low student-to-faculty ratio to ensure individual attention. The program possesses modern and comprehensive facilities, including laboratories, a highly diverse and substantial volume of cases, a library, and research facilities. Furthermore, the Anatomic Pathology Program at the Faculty of Medicine, Padjadjaran University, collaborates with hospitals across West Java and several international institutions, thereby providing broad and extensive opportunities for student learning development, internships, and international research. The study period at the Anatomic Pathology Program is shorter, at 7 semesters, which can reduce the financial burden and time commitment for prospective specialist physicians. Additionally, specialist physicians in Anatomic Pathology can promptly apply their knowledge and become directly involved in efforts to improve public health standards in Indonesia. Graduates of the Anatomic Pathology Specialist Program at Padjadjaran University possess competencies in diagnosing diseases through the examination of body tissues, organs, and cells using microscopic and molecular techniques. They are skilled in performing histopathological, cytological, and other diagnostic analyses to detect structural abnormalities underlying diseases, such as cancer, infections, and degenerative diseases. These graduates are also capable of providing accurate and relevant laboratory result interpretations to assist in determining clinical diagnoses. With a deep understanding of pathology and analytical techniques, they are prepared to contribute in hospitals, laboratories, and research to enhance the quality of medical diagnosis and treatment.
