The Clinical Pathology Study Program was established on November 21, 1981, by Decree No. 0397/U/1981. Prior to the establishment of the Clinical Pathology Study Program, the field was primarily represented by the Department of Clinical Pathology, founded in 1957. This department functioned as a Functional Service Unit (UPF) of the Dr. Hasan Sadikin Central General Hospital, operating under the Directorate of Medical and Nursing Services and located within the Clinical Pathology building of RSUP Dr. Hasan Sadikin. The Department of Clinical Pathology is part of the organizational structure of RSUP Dr. Hasan Sadikin Bandung, governed by the legal basis of Minister of Health Regulation No. 1673/Menkes/Pes/XII/2005 on the Organization and Work Procedures of RSUP Dr. Hasan Sadikin Bandung, and the President Director's Decree No. HK.02.05/D1.8-32/132/I/2008 concerning the Organizational Structure and Work Procedures of the Clinical Pathology Department/UPF of RSUP Dr. Hasan Sadikin Bandung. The Clinical Pathology Study Program comprises four divisions: Clinical Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Clinical Immunoserology, and Clinical Microbiology.
Graduate Competencies
Graduates of the Specialist Program 1 in Clinical Pathology at Unpad possess the competency to diagnose diseases through laboratory analysis of body samples, such as blood, urine, and tissues. They are skilled in identifying underlying biochemical, hematological, microbiological, and immunological abnormalities, including those associated with infections, cancer, and metabolic disorders. These graduates are also capable of managing diagnostic testing, interpreting laboratory results, and providing treatment recommendations based on laboratory findings. With in-depth knowledge of diagnostic techniques and pathology, they are prepared to contribute in hospitals, medical laboratories, and research settings to enhance the quality of diagnosis and patient care.
