The Faculty of Cultural Sciences at Padjadjaran University (FIB Unpad) is an educational institution focused on the study of language, literature, history, and culture. Founded as the Faculty of Letters in 1958, it has continuously developed and adapted to the progress of time. Its transformation into the Faculty of Cultural Sciences in 2012 marked an effort to accommodate the complexity and intersectionality of cultural studies through a more critical, inclusive, and difference-sensitive interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, and transdisciplinary approach.
FIB Unpad offers educational programs from undergraduate to postgraduate levels, covering various disciplines such as Indonesian Literature, English Literature, Japanese Literature, Arabic Literature, History, and Sundanese Culture. Through a research-based learning approach, the faculty is committed to preserving and developing cultural richness, and to producing graduates who are creative, critical, and contribute to strengthening cultural identity at both national and global levels.
As an institution adaptive to changing times, the vision of FIB Unpad for 2026 is to become a leading institution in the delivery of world-class higher education with strong commitment and integrity in producing qualified human resources in the fields of language, literature, culture, and history. The faculty aims not only to produce academically intelligent graduates but also to instill an entrepreneurial spirit and the competencies needed to address global challenges.
