The Japanese Literature Program aspires to be a leading institution in the organization of world-class higher education, committed with strong integrity to producing human resources who are adaptive, proficient in the study of Japanese language, literature, and culture, and possess the acumen to foster an entrepreneurial spirit.

To achieve this vision, the Japanese Literature Program sets the following graduate competency targets: the ability to communicate in Japanese, both orally and in writing, across various contexts, encompassing speaking, listening, writing, and reading skills at a pre-proficient level (JLPT N3-N2); mastery of concepts and theories in Japanese language, literature, and culture, with the ability to apply them to studies in linguistics, translation, and Japanese literature and culture. Furthermore, graduates are expected to implement a professional work ethic, Japanese business ethics, and the principles of cross-cultural understanding (*ibunka rikai*) within their professions.

**Program Strengths**

Academically, the Japanese Literature Program at Unpad has a strong specialization in Japanese linguistics studies. In terms of collaboration, we have partnerships with various universities and language schools in Japan, providing opportunities for students to participate in both long-term and short-term student exchange programs. Additionally, we have collaborations with Japanese companies for internship activities. For those interested in both popular and traditional Japanese culture, our program offers a variety of student activity units that cater to these interests.
